CHIDIEBERE'S CRYING CLOUDS: THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME WISH - BY PROMISE ALIMI, STUDENT, WESTERN COMMUNITY COLLEGE, CANADA

CHIDIEBERE'S CRYING CLOUDS: THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME WISH - BY PROMISE ALIMI, STUDENT, WESTERN COMMUNITY COLLEGE, CANADA.

THE GOOD:

Starting from his well-molded characters to the twists and turns of his plot, then his themes and crucial lessons, and his execution. There are countless 'goods' one could point out in a 90seconds read. Nonetheless, my review text will be based on some of the above-listed. His main characters are multidimensional and completely created.  These fictitious characters possesses human attributes that touches the readers emotions to think they are beyond the black and white ink of the book.  Their every emotions can be felt by the readers.

According to my deductions, the key message from this novel was: the decisions of one could affect generations to come.  This is a very vital message to the public, most especially to the young people who are presently in positions to take decisions that would change their future and that of generations to come.

Forgetting not to mention a few themes from Chidiebere's Crying Clouds: Love, Coming-of-age, Friendship, Divinity, Vengeance and more.

His execution of the themes were just stellar.

Chidiebere did really 'good' to put out such masterpiece novel at this time.

THE BAD:

From my deductions, the 'bad' in this work-of-art are few to none. The only notable 'bad' in this text was Chidiebere's very unique writing, and the very fast progression of the story.

Chidiebere delivered a writing style that is unusual to Nigerian readers, however, easily understandable.

Chidiebere also moved the story progression speedily in a way that suggests more than 200 pages will be needed to communicate his idea effectively, yet he used less than that to tell it.

THE ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME WISH:

Chidiebere's Crying Clouds follows a line of females who possesses a once-in-a-lifetime wish. The novel talks about the wishes of 4 females from the Idemudia family, and the motivations behind these wishes.

The novel asks the question, 'what would be your one-time wish if you had the opportunity?'

This is quite an easy question to answer, if I'm being asked, and easy for  a number of people too.

However, happenings and actions of other characters makes it a very complex question to his 4 major female characters who possesses this gift.

Chidiebere explained that our wants are numerous, and humans really don't know what they want, and can never stop wanting after they have. Chidiebere also explained that, sometimes decision making is quite complex, given that we are absolutely oblivious of the consequences of our choices, and even more difficult for our 16-years-old protagonist, Favour Idemudia.

On an ending note, Chidiebere's Crying Clouds is really that book. It is an amazing story that EVERY African would relate to and love.
