Patent might be giving us a sneak peek at LG V30's design: secondary display with a twist

Two days ago, during Google's I/O 2017 keynote, it was announced that the Galaxy S8/S8+ and LG's next flagship phone will eventually support Daydream later this year

This was news in more than one way: firstly, it single-handedly confirmed that an LG V30 is on the way, and secondly, it heavily hinted that this one will be donning an OLED display, which is one of the hardware requirements for Daydream support.

And it seems that right after this high-level confirmation, the floodgates of the rumor mill got slightly cracked and spewed out a recent patent application that might very well give us a sneak peek at LG V30's general design. Why the V30, exactly? Simple - the patent images clearly show a secondary display.

Before we analyze it, however, a disclaimer is due: patent images are almost always a vague interpretation of the object they picture, so we definitely shouldn't look too much into these.

So, the patented smartphone design we are talking about is looking like a mix between the LG V20, as it boasts a secondary display, and the LG G6 due to the suggested thin bezels at the front. Yes, it looks as if LG's continuing to bet on its dual-display philosophy for the V series but might be also throwing in a spin - the V30's auxiliary screen could be separated by what seems to be a center-positioned selfie camera. While it seems a bit odd, it's at least suggesting that LG's entertaining the idea of change and willing to experiment with the design of its future devices.

We'd also have you know that this could be merely one of the possible designs that the V30 could end up boasting - just like any other major tech company, LG usually has a bunch of different designs on the drawing table, with only one making the cut to the production lines.
