The police have arrested a 17-year-old housewife in Bauchi State for the alleged murder of her two-weeks-old stepson.
Hindatu Abdullahi is alleged to have forced the baby to drink locally made insecticide popularly known as “ota pia pia”, which resulted in his untimely death.
She confessed the crime before journalists in Bauchi State, blaming her actions on her experience during her two-year-old marriage.

The 17-year-old was paraded along with some suspected armed robbers and notorious kidnappers.
Police Public Relations Officer for the Bauchi Command, Kamal Abubakari, said the cases were under investigation and the suspects will be arraigned soon.
The Police PRO told reporters that Hindatu collected the child, Mohammed, from her co-wife, Fatima Abdullahi, and took him to her room and fed him the insecticide.
“As a result, the baby became unconscious and was rushed to the near-by dispensary at Jigari village. Later, the baby died in the process of referral to the general hospital the same day,” he said.
“The suspect was arrested and also, the remaining quantity of the toxic insecticide was also recovered and is now in the process of scientific examination.”
Hindatu’s case and those of the suspects paraded with her are being investigated by the Criminal Investigative Department in Bauchi State.
