UK adds more African countries to travel ban list

Ethiopia and Somalia are the two countries affected.

The ban is intended to "reduce the possibility of new variants" entering the UK, according to a statement from the UK Department of Transport.

The travel bans will take come into force on Friday from 04:00 GMT.

Meanwhile, Mauritius will be removed from the list on Friday.

African countries already on the list include Angola, Botswana, Burundi, Cape Verde, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, Seychelles, and South Africa.
