MTN has found it difficult for its customers to buy airtime or data using the USSD code

If you're an MTN user, you might have trouble using the USSD code to recharge or purchase data. MTN has currently blocked its customers from using USSD codes to recharge or purchase data on their cell phones, according to the most recent development.

This ensures that customers will be unable to recharge their lines or purchase data plans using their bank's USSD codes for the time being. Subscribers who tried to recharge using USSD codes sent the following message

“Dear Customer, this service is temporarily unavailable. Kindly contact your Telecom service provider.”

MTN Nigeria reported the news in an email to some of its partners, which reads in part:

“Dear Customer, Please be informed that some of My customers may not be able to purchase airtime, and data recharge via banks including MOD, and myMTNApp.

Please pacify My customers and educate them to use MTNTopit, MoMo channels, as well as the debit card options on MOD or myMTN App.”

If you want to recharge or buy data, you can use alternate channels like OPay app or your bank app depending on which one you are confortable with.
